Greetings

It has been a pleasure having the children back at school this week after the summer break.  The first day was a delight seeing all the usual faces back, plus a large number of new enrolments.  We extend a very warm welcome to the new families, not only to the school, but also to the wider community.

This year we have started on 168 children compared with 145 at the same time last year.  To cater for the extra numbers we have started an eighth classroom to keep class numbers at a reasonable level. 

A special welcome to Andrea Peterson and Kate Staples who are joining us this year as fulltime teachers.  We look forward to all that you have to bring to Pyes Pa School!

We have two former teachers joining us in a different capacity this year.  During the break we advertised a new teaching position as a result of a rapidly growing roll.  Heidi Pink and Ann Bakker have both taught at the school in the recent past and will be returning in a job-share position.  We are delighted to have two excellent teachers, experienced in teaching at Pyes Pa, returning to the fold. 

A number of projects have taken place over the summer break.  We have repainted the school pool as well as carried out extensive general painting of buildings.  It is great to have this work done and to see the school looking so good.

We have much happening in Term 1, including our whole school triathlon, swimming sports, a broad range of class activities and parent interviews at the end of term.
